The power of digitising in-field processes

PowerNet, an electricity distribution business serving more than 72,700 customers across southern New Zealand, worked with Risk Mentor to move its field safety processes from paper to digital workflows designed with its own crews. The case study sets out why, how the work was done, and what it showed by mid-2024.

  1. Built with the crews. Digital workflows, co-designed with field teams, replaced three separate paper tools: Take 5, minor worksite safety plans and major worksite safety plans.
  2. Obligations mapped into the work. More than 1,500 safety and performance obligations were organised through the Control Framework architecture and linked to the task steps where they apply.
  3. Used at scale. To July 2024: 51,700 workflows completed, 138,860 sub-forms and more than 2.3 million step confirmations, each available for analysis. These figures show use and coverage.
